New York rapper Benny The Butcher‘s new release Burden Of Proof is one of the most talked-about albums in hip-hop right now, with some saying it’s a legit five-mic classic. Features include Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Big Sean, but it turns out music mogul JAY-Z also had a role in creating the critically acclaimed project.

JAY-Z’s Behind-The-Scenes Assist

The project’s executive producer Hit-Boy revealed he enlisted rap legend JAY-Z’s help on Benny’s track “One Way Flight,” which features Freddie Gibbs. While he didn’t add a verse, Hov assisted with the arrangement in production.

“I ain’t gon bull sh*t you I emailed jay z and he helped me arrange “one way flight” featuring @FreddieGibbs veteran level sh*t. That spacing is the sh*t !!!” -Hit-Boy’s Twitter

Benny The Butcher Got Emotional During One Song

Hit-Boy also shared a story about Benny putting his heart into the track “Thank God I Made It.” The producer put Benny and Nipsey Hussle on the same level in terms of making their music “spiritual.”

“Only 2 artists cried in the stu while making a record with me in the last couple years. Nipsey Hussle when he recorded the second verse on “racks in the middle” and Benny The Butcher on “thank god I made it” Real gangsta sh*t if you ask me. It’s spiritual at this point ⛪️” -Hit-Boy’s Twitter

Burden Of Proof Is A Definite Banger

The hip-hop world is raving about Benny The Butcher’s debut album. Not just the production, but the lyricism and intensity of Benny’s bars have captured their attention.

JAY-Z Pushes For NFL Diversity

More of that behind-the-scenes work from JAY-Z. The music mogul teamed up with the NFL to roll out the red carpet for Emmy-nominated producer Jesse Collins to executive produce the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show. The hip-hop heavyweight’s Roc Nation, NFL and Pepsi’s decision to give Collins the high-end position makes him the first-ever Black producer of the champions games’ halftime show. Young Hov has confirmed the huge power move and spoke on what Collins brings with his industry experience.

“Jesse Collins is innovative, creative and one of the only executive producers that speak fluent ‘artist vision.’ He‘s a true artist,” said Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. “Jesse’s insight and understanding create both extraordinary shows and true cultural moments. After working with Jesse for so many years, I look forward to all there is to come.” Collins, founder and CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment, was Emmy-nominated last year for outstanding variety special (live) as a producer for the 61st Grammy Awards. His other credits include the CBS special John Lewis: Celebrating A Hero, the BET Awards, the BET Hip-Hop Awards and the Soul Train Awards, among others. (Deadline)
