If you’re a new mother or know a new mother, you’ll most likely be acquainted with fem tech brand, Elvie.
When Tania Boler fell pregnant, she discovered the surplus unique health issues women had been battling with for centuries. From a weak pelvic floor to the complications of breast pumps, Tania decided to tackle taboo health topics for women head on and find a game-changing solution. The result? Elvie, a revolutionary FemTech company founded in 2013 by Tania and her co-founder Alexander Asseily.
Tania managed to raise $42 million, the largest single raise ever made in FemTech, for her brand, which has been listed at No. 7 in the 2020 Sunday Times Sage Tech Track 100 and was named one of WIRED’s 100 Hottest Startups of 2019. The Elvie Trainer, an award-winning Kegel trainer and app, and The Elvie Pump, a device designed to make pumping a hands-free experience that empowers mums to pump on their own terms, both went viral and now Tania is back with two innovative breastfeeding products.
So what exactly are they? Elvie Curve (£49.99) is a wearable, silicone breast pump that allows for gentle hands-free expression when feeding or pumping from the other breast – or to express full breasts. The device is designed to be a simple way to express using natural suction and a valve that lets you control the suction strength, so you can comfortably express up to 4 oz of milk with next-to-no effort.
Elvie Catch (£29.99), meanwhile, is a set of two slip-proof milk collection cups designed to sit neatly and discreetly inside a bra. Elvie Catch can be used during feeding, pumping or on the go by sitting securely in a bra to prevent leaks whilst collecting up to 1 oz of breastmilk per cup.
Speaking about her genius new products, CEO and co-founder of Elvie, Tania Boler, said: “Elvie Curve and Elvie Catch mark the next steps in Elvie’s mission to modernise breastfeeding and pumping products so they fit into the lives of real, modern-day mums.
“We launched the silent, wireless and wearable Elvie Pump two years ago to make pumping a hands-free experience that empowers mums to pump on their own terms. But we know that the challenges of breastfeeding go beyond pumping.
“Breast milk is liquid gold, so these products are designed to make the most of every last drop – as well as fitting seamlessly (and discreetly) into the lives of mums, like all Elvie products!”
